Karimnagar: Zilla Pari shad Chairperson T Uma said on Friday awareness should be created among women about breast cancer. Inaugurating an awareness camp on breast cancer at a primary school in Kattarampur, she advised women to take care of their health as they would be working hard, both at home and in offices.

Uma said women should take nutritious food to remain healthy. The awareness level among women about breast cancers was low. It should be detected at an early stage for effective treatment. Collector M Veerabrahmaiah said breast cancer awareness camps would be held in all Anganwadi Centres from November 13. A screening programme would be organized. He called for a greater awareness among women belonging to lower middle classes. He advised the SHG members to enhance their knowledge of breast cancer.

City Mayor Ravinder Singh said that if a housewife was healthy, the entire family would be healthy.

MEPMA project director Vijayalakshmi, who presided, said on the National Cancer Awareness Day on Friday camps were organised in all Anganwadi centres.
