The GHMC has decided to take a firm stance against its employees who have been playing hooky with regard to their duties. In a review meeting held by M T Krishna Babu, Commissioner, GHMC with the Health and Sanitation Department (H&S), the H & S officials put forth their displeasure with errant workers; they also said that they were not in a position take action against them due to various pressures. The commissioner ordered them to deduct their salaries for their absenteeism, impose penalties if it goes on even further and then remove them permanently if they are absent persistently. He said that the GHMC would stand by the officials who took stern action against the errant workers.
Additional directions were given to Venkatesh, Chief Entomologist as the months of September and October are the pinnacle point for water, air and vector borne diseases. The Statistical Officials of the Health Wing had informed the commissioner that they had successfully managed to dispatch 60% of the birth certificates by courier services. They also represented the problems they were facing with the address provided at government hospitals.
The commissioner asked the Additional Commissioner (H&S) to hold a meeting in this regard with the government hospital officials. The officials informed that out of 115 hospitals only 105 hospitals were sending across their delivery/ birth details online and from June 1 2013, onwards the GHMC had dispatched 19409 birth certificates through courier but 20% of them had been returned due to lack of a proper address.
The commissioner directed all the health officials to erect display boards at prominent locations in the grave yards. These boards will appeal to the public to get the names of the deceased registered with the care taker of the grave yard so as to get a death certificate from the GHMC without any hassles.
The commissioner also took note of the few restaurants and bars which have sprung up in residential localities. He has asked the officials to conduct special drives to duly seize and cancel their trade licenses if issued. The commissioner informed that only 87 schools had registered themselves for getting clay and blocks to prepare Green Ganesh idols. He has asked the Additional Commissioner (H&S) to personally delegate the medical officers to convince the school managements to come together and register themselves for this programme aimed at saving mother earth.
