What would you make of a 10-year-old girl who says she likes to study? It is unlikely of a Class V student to say she loves to study, but then Neelambari Develpalli is far mature than most kids her age. A student of Unicent Child Centric School, Neelambari is a budding artist who loves to play with colours.

Neelambari Develpalli and her works

Her interest to dabble with colours started when she was admitted in a nursery. Soon her parents spotted her talent and put her under artist Arti M Kulkarni’s tutelage. Neelambari paints on canvas. But it is painting on glass, pots and bottles that she likes.

“I also like doing pencil sketches,” says the Warangal born girl. For now, though, it is painting on glass that catches her fancy.

She is displaying 55 items at Rainbow Art Gallery. This is her first solo exhibition in Hyderabad. She previously exhibited her works in Mysore and Bengaluru.

Neelambari is also getting trained in Carnatic music. On being asked what she would like to become after growing up, she says, “My parents say do what you like. I have not decided yet.”

She sure has time and loads of talent. Whether it will be music or the artist’s brush is something she would have to decide. But for now her hands are full with glass, bottles and pots.

The two-day expo will conclude at Rainbow Art Gallery today.
