Hyderabad: The Forum for Democratic Rights in English and Foreign Language University (EFLU) will organise a public meeting outside the university’s Gate number 2 on Wednesday over issues pertaining to the university.

Speaking to newspersons at the press club here on Monday, Sandhya, president, POW, demanded that the university should extend legal, medical and other kinds of support to the complainant in fighting the rape case.

She also said that police should impartially complete the investigation into the gang rape within the time limit as per the Nirbhaya Act and reveal the role of all parties involved. She stated that a public meeting would be organised on Wednesday over problems faced by the students in the university.

The forum demanded that police should not be involved in matters of student activity and day-to-day university affairs. It added that the statutory committees for discipline, grievances, welfare and other issues must be activated immediately to address and resolve issues.

The forum also demanded that the university to immediately withdraw all circulars, show cause notices and oral decisions issued to curb democratic forms of expression. It demanded Ministry of Human Resource of Development to order an independent probe into the authoritarian and undemocratic functioning of the university and the violation of UGC/MHRD rules by the Vice-Chancellor.
