Anu Aggarwal, a model-turned-actor, who shot to fame with her debut feature ‘Aashiqui’, was present at the ongoing Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF) as an author is excited to be part of the literary extravaganza.

“It is an exhilarating feeling to be part of a literary festival. This is my first time at HLF and I’m really glad to participate in it,” shares Anu. Anu, who met with a near fatal accident in 1999 was in a coma for 29 days.

A portion of her face was paralysed and twisted to one side, stealing the beauty of the dusky damsel. In her biography, the first-time author writes about her near death experience, her recovery, the significance of hope and self discovery.

“I had to talk about the accident and the recovery. People are losing hope. And this book is about hope. Writing comes easy to me as I used to maintain a diary in my teenage days. My mother was an author and I was a disciplined writer from the age of 11,” Anu informs.

Speaking about her accident she says, “I have no memory of it. I remember the night but, after that I have no recollection of what happened. I just know the account as told by others.” “The accident was so bad that the doctor at Breach Candy lost hope in my recovery.

And, when I recovered they said it is a miracle that I’m alive. Post the accident I’m still recovering. I say it is just physical recovery. I have recovered mentally years back,” Anu recalls. Throwing light on the title of her memoir she says, “In 1994, I was selected as a style icon and a journalist wrote about it, her headline started with ‘Anusual…’ so I picked it from there.”

Anu says that she will be coming up with another book soon. “I am compiling a book of poems that I wrote. Poetry comes easier to me than writing. I wrote my first book as a poem and later, I made it into prose,” Anu signs off.
