Murali started his rapping career eight years ago, and began making music albums with friends since 2013. He shares, “Our team comprises of Harish (MC Uneek) and Om Sripathi, and I. We have a similar evaluation in terms of musical tastes and inspirations, which have eventually got us together to make music.”
“We released a Telugu rap song called “Tipiri Tipiri” recently. It has been doing great with the audience. The song has three different characters stuck in three different scenarios, and it shows how they maneuver these situations. Mike is stuck in traffic, Uneek has exam fear and Om is a stereotypical software engineer, each portraying his own set of issues and problems hilariously to culminate them with a catchy hook,” he elaborates on the latest video. The social media star shares the process of getting the fame through his video albums.
Excerpts:
Why did you choose this particular genre?
The key is to make songs relatable and also unique in terms of content that is different from what the existing Tollywood music industry has to offer. My influences were Yelawolf, Drake, Eminem, 50 cent and the likes.
Flow or lyrics - what do you put first?
Flow and lyrics, both go hand in glove. At this juncture, for independent artists, I would say flow is slightly more important than the lyrics.
Do you create your own beats and write your own lyrics?
Yes, all the things related to audio mixing and lyrics are handled by the team. We also account for a part of the pre and post-production work of our music videos. We use FL Studio 12 and Logic for audio related processes.
Tell us about your first big hit “Jampak Chipak”?
“Jimpak Chipak” has made a noticeable cultural impact. The way the song was received and consumed by the people was first-of-its-kind in the music scene in Hyderabad. The music video was so relatable to people, that it led them to make around 450 spoofs of the same song and upload them to YouTube. It opened a lot of avenues and network streams with its reach that we can capitalise on in the future. It's good to see all the hard work that we have put in all these years is paying off huge dividends. It's inspirational and drives us to do more as well.
Where do you distribute and promote music?
Internet is the best distributor and YouTube, currently, is the best platform. We have a few deals in place with a few MCNs in the city that handle our release strategies and social media.
What is your future plan?
Our forthcoming song “Enno Enno”, an introspective one, is ready and this will be followed by a romantic number called “Hey Pilla part-2”. My future plan is to keep making great music and contribute to the entertainment of our listeners.
