Almond Board of California conducted a talk on working mother’s dilemma in ensuring the family health during a panel discussion, ‘Badam pe Charcha’. On the panel were actress- mother Namrata Shirodkar, well- known diet, Nutritionist Sheela Krishnaswamy and Delhi-based Nutritionist Ritika Samaddar; and Senior Director of global marketing at the Almond board, Emily Fleischmann.

On the panel were actress- mother Namrata Shirodkar, well- known diet, Nutritionist Sheela Krishnaswamy and Delhi-based Nutritionist Ritika Samaddar; and Senior Director of global marketing at the Almond board, Emily Fleischmann.

The event was held on Tuesday at ITC Kakatiya. Together, the panelist stressed on the importance of health, especially for mothers, and the relevance of healthy snacking in today’s stress filled lifestyle. Speaking on the occasion, Namrata said, “It is very important for every mother to maintain a balance between striving for a healthy and balanced life for her family and not compromising on her own health and fitness.

Being a working mother; I can understand how stressful this can be. While, most of us succeed in ensuring that our families stay healthy, we tend to ignore our own health. Hence, I try to incorporate simple changes in my daily routine like consuming a handful of almonds every day, followed by a daily fitness routine. This simple step can help balance both-family’s health as well as ours.

I am very particular about what my family eats.” Nutritionist Sheela Krishnasawmy said, “A well balanced diet, regular exercise can go a long way in keeping young, working, urban mothers healthy. Everyone knows the rules by heart- plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts; but it is difficult to follow them ‘when you are grabbing lunch on the run or dipping into the office candy bowl or managing household chores’ don’t treat it as medicine.

Hence, smart snacking is the key! In fact, snacking on almonds instead of consuming readily available unwholesome snacks can make a healthy difference to our lives. They are a natural source of many essential nutrients, including protein and healthy fat, making them a nutrient-rich, smart snack that can also help keep you going throughout the day. ”

Speaking on the role of changing lifestyle in influencing dietary choices, and Delhi-based Nutritionist Ritika Samaddar, shared, “As a consequence of increasing disposals incomes, convenience coupled with a no-time for anything lifestyle, snacking has become an important part of our daily routine. However, uncontrolled and mindless snacking along with a sedentary lifestyle have been key contributors to a rapid rise in lifestyle related disorders.”
