Road expansion likely to begin soon

The long pending works pertaining to expansion of road on the Hussaini Alam-Fateh Darwaza stretch would soon commence easing the traffic movement here.

The narrow roads in the area have been the major reason for hundreds of vehicles moving from here and resulting in frequent jams. Traffic jams were regular on Fateh Darwaza to Shah Ali Banda and Hussaini Alam road.

The works got the nod from municipal administration and municipal workers are already making arrangements for the works to start. Officials from town planning, engineering wings of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have already visited the area and informed about the expansion to property owners on the stretch.

This being one of the oldest localities in old city, it has many old structures that are in a severely dangerous condition. GHMC officials have issued many notices to such buildings in the past.

Few property owners have expressed their apprehensions over the road expansion here. Traffic Police and Law & Order police officials are trying to convince the property owners to give their consent for road expansion and that it would ease the movement of traffic and helpful for everyone.

The road expansion had to take place from Shah Ali Banda to Fateh Darwaza and Kamati pura earlier. Almost 129 private properties will have to be removed either partially or completely on this stretch. This work could not begin because of some technical reason.

This time the municipal officials would be razing down all the weak structures that have been coming in the way of road expansion here. Interestingly, people on the stretch and most of the property owners are also ready to cooperate with the municipal officials.
Municipal officials, traffic police, and other department officials will be calling a meeting with the property owners in order to start works on this stretch.

A municipal town planning officer Srinivas Das said that road expansion works on the stretch were being taken up as per the instructions of higher officials. He said that consultations with property owners have started and works would begin very soon.
