Talabkhatta: Rahmat is barely 12 years of age but his whole day goes in preparing for the band party that he is part of. He dropped out of school when he was in the fourth standard.

All through the year he keeps doing small jobs in bangle making units, selling watermelon, in scrap godowns and anyone who is ready to pay him and offer lunch.
Rahmat was also counseled after a police raid when working in a bangle making unit but that did not deter him. He was back to doing menial jobs. Like him there are hundreds of children below 18 years of age who have been doing odd jobs and sometimes in hazardous conditions.

Most of the children are seen working in Talabkatta, Bhavaninagar, Kanchanbagh, Falaknuma, Hussaini Alam, Talabkatta, Charminar, Chandrayanagutta, and other areas. Shaik Wajid aged 13 has been part of a band that performs in marriages. Though he goes to school, he joins the band during marriages. Mohd Najamuddin, asst labour officer said the department takes child labour seriously and whenever a case is brought to their notice, they take action.
