Siddipet: Major Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Friday inaugurated a gram panchayat bhavan built at a cost of Rs 23 lakh and a community hall for SCs (Malas) built at a cost of Rs 6 lakh in Mandapalli.

Later, he distributed fertilisers and seeds, arranged by agriculture department, among the farmers of the village. Afterwards, the minister proceeded to Sikindlapur where he inaugurated a gram panchayat building constructed at a cost of Rs 32 lakh.

Festive atmosphere prevailed in the two villages where women gave arti to Harish Rao and welcomed the minister amidst beating of drums and bursting of crackers. Petals were showered on the minister. Later addressing the villagers, the minister said Kaleswaram project is being executed on a war footing and hence said that 1600 acres in Mandapalli village would get water from Ranganayaka Sagar project by Dasara this year.

He said that Rs 40 lakh has been granted to Mogullakunta feeder channel works, Rs 28 lakh for undertaking channel repair works, Rs 55 lakh for low-level causeway works, Rs 88 lakh for laying CC roads in Sikindlapur, Rs 52 lakh for laying CC roads in Mallaram village and Rs 2 crore for building Mallaram-Sekindlapur electric sub-station.

Later, the minister distributed cheques among Shadimubarak and Kalyanalakshmi beneficiaries. Afterwards he inaugurated a SC community hall in Mallaram village. MPP Kura Manik Reddy, ZPTC Kamala Ramachandram, sarpanches of villages where development works are implemented and other elected people’s representatives took part in the programme.
