Madhapur: Exactly opposite to Madhapur Police Station, a damaged iron gate with protruding iron rods of an open private plot and the loosely hanging cables over it are posing threat to the lives of passersby and people waiting for autos and buses.

The huge iron gate with broken pipes is on the verge of collapse, if not for the support of cable wires. The iron gate was erected by the landlord who wanted to protect the empty plot from encroachments. Earlier, according to neighbours, as darkness fell the plot was taken over by homeless people, drug addicts, drunkards and stray dogs. To keep away the nuisance-makers, the owner constructed the massive heighted gate with curved iron grills on the top so that no one enters the plot even by climbing over it.

However, with improper construction and no supportive walls the grills have fallen apart and is about to collapse. As the gate is in the private property the GHMC officials are not bothered about it, but if it falls it could hit vehicles plying on the road and pedestrians fatally injuring them. With protruding iron rods pedestrians are forced to walk on the road instead of the footpath, risking their lives from the speeding vehicles.

Venkatesh Karri, an employee who travels daily on this route, said, “There is no bus stop here but it is a busy road. The protruding iron pipes are very dangerous, and the gate may fall any time. The authorities must take up the issue and see that the gate is immediately reinstalled properly. The authorities must send notices to the private plot owner,” he added.
