In a major crackdown, Cyberabad police nabbed 10 members of two notorious gangs—Ashappa and Pullappa—who were allegedly responsible for number of murders, robberies, pseudo-Naxal crimes and many others in various parts of the State, at Sherlingampally railway station on Thursday. Five lethal weapons with 16 live rounds of bullets, including Rs 2.7 lakh, 8 tolas of gold ornaments, two motor cycles, Saudi currency worth about Rs 24,000 and a TV set have been recovered from their possession.

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown, Cyberabad police nabbed 10 members of two notorious gangs—Ashappa and Pullappa—who were allegedly responsible for number of murders, robberies, pseudo-Naxal crimes and many others in various parts of the State, at Sherlingampally railway station on Thursday. Five lethal weapons with 16 live rounds of bullets, including Rs 2.7 lakh, 8 tolas of gold ornaments, two motor cycles, Saudi currency worth about Rs 24,000 and a TV set have been recovered from their possession.
The accused members of Ashappa gang were Sunkari Prasad, 37, Keesara Srinivas Reddy, 48, Jagapathi Mahender Reddy 35, Dasari Satyanarayana, 39, Mangi Chakradar, 30, Jakkannagari Janardhan, 28 and Gulla Ravikumar, 26. With the help of the above accused, the police detained Pullappa gang members: Gadam Pullappa, 39, Pebbeti Veera Reddy, 36 and Medari Rajanikanth , 30 for their roles in scores of different crimes. On interrogation, three members of Ashappa gang admitted to robbing off one Jagapathi Mahender of Rs 2.70 lakh by posing themselves as CCS police. Besides, the trio formed a pseudo-Naxal group to extort money from various petrol bunks located on the outskirts of the city. Using the above accused, the police nabbed the remaining members of the two gangs, who were fighting to finish each other’s gang.
Rs 1 lakh reward
Meanwhile police on Thursday announced Rs 1 lakh reward for those giving information about Ashappa and two others. Ashappa alias Ashok alias Shiva Raj, 40, is a notorious criminal allegedly involved in many involved in muders, abductions illegral arms trade and pseudo-Naxal activities.
