Hyderabad: The Seemandhra MPs on Friday urged the AICC general secretary incharge of State affairs Digvijay Singh to intervene and rein in Congress leaders from Telangana in competing with parties like TRS, which were trying to spread hatred among regions for electoral gains.

In a letter to Digvijay, MPs including A Sai Pratap, Vundavali Arun Kumar, KVP Ramachandra Rao, Lagadapati Rajagopal and others alleged that efforts were on to disturb the meeting of the APNGOs scheduled to be held at L B Stadium on Saturday. They said, in their bid to disturb the peaceful movement some ‘radical divisive’ organisations like the TRS wanted to hold a parallel meeting. When they did not get permission, they threatened the APNGOs that they would not be allowed to hold any meeting in Hyderabad.

They said, unfortunately, this stand of the TRS was supported by ‘radical elements’ in Congress party including State ministers and MPs. The Seemandhra MPs said it was these very leaders who had assured the Congress party and the general public that they would stand by people of all regions in protecting their democratic rights. “In the unified Andhra Pradesh if these leaders could not stand by rights of various regions, imagine the plight of the people in a divided State,” they said.

They further added that it was deplorable that members belonging to a national party, which was against divisive politics like caste, religion, region and language, chose to obstruct the fundamental right of expression which was granted by the Indian Constitution.

Referring to the slogan given by the TRS, “Telanganawala Jago Andhrawala Bhaago,” the Seemandhra MPs alleged that the Congress leaders did not condemn it till date. The Seemandhra leaders expressed fears that the Congress leaders from T region might borrow the slogan for electoral gains once the State was divided. In view of this, they urged Digvijay to intervene and take immediate appropriate action.
