Hyderabad: The union cabinet minister S. Jaipal Reddy on Saturday said the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi took the bifurcation decision only in the interest of Telangana people, Keeping her personal opinion of keeping the state united. He said till this time, all leaders had the same opinion that congress party would never create a separate Telangana state. But, Sonia wanted to give a proper solution to the prolonged Telangana problem. So, though Sonia had never been interested in state bifurcation, she had to take that decision, he said.

But, he said, once the decision was taken, there would not be any weak movements in going ahead. Jaipal Reddy participated in Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra headed by PCC leader Nirajnjan, near charminar in Hyderbada on Saturday. Many prominent leaders like D Srinivasa Rao, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar, VH Hanumantha Rao, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Nandishwar Goud, B Kamalakar Rao also participated in this program. Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana award was given away to former planning commission member CH Hanumantha Rao.

Later, Jaipal Reddy said history teaches lessons to all. He said BJP leaders think of temples only when the elections are ahead. The situation in Andhra Pradesh is not normal for quite some time, he said.

He said Seemandhra people realised that the death is inevitable at least after 100 yrs and a separate bed is inevitable even after 1000 yrs. He saw the apprehensions of Seemandhra people regarding the water distribution and Hyderabad as baseless. He said Hyderabad belongs to all those who took part in building the Charminar including Marwadies, Kannadigas, Gujaraties.

D Srinivasa Rao also spoke and said after deliberating many issues; Sonia Gandhi had arrived at this particular solution of bifurcating the state. So, he requested the Seemandhra people to cooperate.
