IT Minister KT Rama Rao said that Hyderabad had the potential to become the finest destination for medical tourism in the world. Speaking at the launch of Amulya, a fertility scheme for the underprivileged by Oasis, KTR said, “With the advancement of specialties in reproductive medicine and other forms of medical treatments, Hyderabad will become the finest destination for medical tourism in the world.”

KTR also spoke about the relevance of fertility treatments and Public Private Partnership. Oasis India, which is an infertility treatment center in the city, has opened 25 new centers across the country where Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) /Diagnosis (PGD) will be offered along with other infertility treatments.

PGS and PGD are recent developments in modern medicine and is used to assess the genetic profile of the embryo before it is implanted, thereby increase the chances of a healthy foetus. Oasis will conduct free camps for infertile couples in tier 2 and tier 3 cities as part of its CSR initiative to bring about awareness.

Currently Oasis is the only centre in Hyderabad offering PGS through which all 24 chromosomes can be analysed. Talking about the expansion, Kiran Gedela, co-founder and managing director of Oasis India, “Currently we run three centers in Hyderabad.

Going forward, we are planning to open 25 centers in the next five years. These new centers will be a mix of IVF, satellite centers and strategy partner model. This expansion goal will be accomplished through strategic partnerships and fresh fund infusion.”
