The Hyderabad Literary Festival will have a book launch and two photo exhibitions that would focus on indigenous artworks. The January 23-26 lit extravaganza will be held at Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, Hyderabad. Lakshmi Prabhala’s ‘Hydandseek’, a visual tribute to Hyderabad, will be launched at the lit fest. The book is essentially a collection of street photographs taken over several years by Lakshmi Prabhala, an independent photographer and writer with a former career in software development.

Lakshmi Prabhala will also be displaying her works at a photo exhibit titled ‘Absolute Hyderabad – the unchanging side to a city of change’. Compelling and engaging visuals portraying the moments of daily street life in the city: an old man selling bangles at Laad Bazaar, children chase rolling cycle tires, a group of men leisurely savouring chai at an Irani café are some of the photographs that will be featured at the expo.

Architect G Shankar Narayan’s ‘Heritage of Telangana – Little Known Architectural Gems’ will also be held at the fest. At the expo, architectural treasures of Andhra Pradesh will be presented. The photos were compiled and curated by Narayan on behalf of the Indian Institute of Architects.
