Dr Siripurapu Kesava Rao who has completed his 11-year-term as the director-general of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) was bid farewell by the ASCI Employee Union at its Bella Vista campus on Tuesday. A PhD in economics from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Dr SK Rao joined ASCI on March 1, 2004, after serving The Commonwealth Secretariat for about two decades.

His term as the DG at ASCI will officially come to an end on Saturday. The Court of Governors (CoG) will make an announcement about the new DG this week. Appreciating the affectionate nature of Dr SK Rao, ASCI Employees Union president S Sree Ramulu said, “Dr Rao has been kind to all employees. He treated us like his family members and solved our problems whenever we approached him.”

The ASCIEU secretary Mohammed Hassan hailed the cash incentive scheme introduce by Dr Rao for the benefit of meritorious wards of the employees. Thanking the ASCIEU for having extended its cooperation during his stint, Dr Rao called upon employees to give their best to safeguard the rich values and traditions of ASCI.

“It is very rare to find not-for-profit training institutions like ASCI. It was formed with a great vision and many stalwarts including the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru were involved in its establishments. Every employee and faculty should strive hard to protect the values and traditions of this great institution,” Dr Rao said. Elaborating the role of education in the growth of nations, Dr Rao asked ASCI employees to impart the best quality education to their wards. The administrative officer Satish Kumar and the medical officer Dr K Ramakrishna also spoke.
