Johannesburg: A 103-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman have become the oldest couple in the world to get married, after they said their vows in Britain on June 13.

George Kirby and Doreen Luckie, who have been together for 27 years, finally tied the knot at a hotel in the seaside town of Eastbourne in the presence of close friends and family, after the former boxer proposed his long time girlfriend on Valentine's Day, reported News24.com.

With a combined age of 194 years, the pair beat the previous record holders, the French couple Francois Fernandez and Madeleine Francineau, who had a combined age of 191 years.

Expressing her happiness, Luckie, who has seven children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with her husband, said that they have no regrets about not tying the knot earlier as they didn't want to bother about marriage before but eventually they did it.

The bride walked the alley wearing a white dress with blue flowers while the groom donned a suit and tie.
