kadapaKadapa: The Brahmotsavams of Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple, also known as the second Bhadradri, was started on a religious note at Vontimitta in Kadapa district on Thursday. Devotees not only from the district, but also from all corners of the State thronged to witness the 11-day long celebrations that will conclude on April 28. The Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple was told to be constructed by Jambavantha of the epic Ramayana, 1,000 years ago. The composite image in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is that of Rama, Lakshmana and Sita. It is believed to have been carved from a single rock. There is a story that sages of Treta yuga prayed for Lord Rama when demons were disturbing their Yagnam. Then Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana came here to kill the demons and thus he got the name Kodandarama. Since Lord Rama doesn't know Anjaneya during this time, here Kodandarama will appear without Anjaneya in this temple. People irrespective of caste and religion will pray the Lord here.
