Water plants sans licences to be shut down

Nizamabad: District Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy said that the mineral water purification plants and drinking water plants that were set up without valid licenses should be immediately shout down.

Addressing the members of district level committee (DLC) meeting here on Thursday, he said that several water purifying and mineral water plants have sprung up in the district without valid licenses and action and such things should not be encouraged in future.

In order to regularise the mineral water plants, officials of the Vigilance and Enforcement departments have set up the district level committee with the District Collector as Chairman, General Manager of Industries as convener.

Besides, other members of the committee include officials of the police department, commercial taxes department, RDOs, deputy directors of geology and mines, executive engineers of the Pollution Control Board as members.

The Joint Collector said that the owners of such plants could obtain licenses and permits through the single window method. These companies should be registered, he added.

He said that if these plants have bore well connections, the owners could approach the Tahsildars and officials of Mineral and Mines department under the 2002 Act.

Collector Ravinder Reddy said that the owners of drinking water plants should be certified under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Else, they would be booked under criminal cases and tried, he warned.
