50 child labourers rescued in Gadwal

Gadwal: The district administration of Jogulamba Gadwal during a special drive rescued 50 child labourers from various jinning mills in the district. Upon learning that jinning mills in the district were employing children below 14 years as cheap labour, District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini directed the officials of Police, Excise and Road Transport Officer (RTO) to form special teams and rescue the child labourers.

“We have formed 10 teams with officials from Police, Excise, RTO and conducted raids on various jinning mills in the district and rescued 50 children working as child labourers. We will book cases against all those found violating the Child Labour Act and necessary legal action will be taken,” informed Rajat Kumar Saini.

The Collector further warned the owners of the mills, factories, hotels and other firms of serious legal action if they found employing child labour. The Collector said cases would be slapped against even the parents for sending their children for work. District Revenue Officer Venugopal, Additional SP Bhaskar, DRDA Project Director Ananth Reddy, Excise Superintendent Singamsetti Madhu along with others took part in the surprise drive on Monday.
