Mahbubnagar: The farmers of the Nawabpet mandal in Mahbubnagar district are irked by the authorities of the sub-station as their farms are not provided with uninterrupted electricity during the daytime. They staged a protest in this regard on Thursday. Though the State government has been claiming of providing 9-hour free power supply, the farmers in Nawabpet mandal have been suffering due to power shortages and they are unable to run their tube well pumps and other water pumping systems continuously to irrigate their lands.

“The Rabi season has started and we are busy preparing to sow paddy and other crops. But the sub-station authorities are troubling us by not providing full power supply because of which we are unable to take up cultivation,” said a protestor.
The farmers demanded the government to intervene immediately and restore power supply as early as possible or else they would further intensify the protest.
