Nalgonda: Stating that the murder of Boddupalli Srinivas, husband of Nalgonda Municipal Chairperson Lakshmi, is a political murder, TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded CBI inquiry into the incident.

On Friday, he paid tributes to Srinivas and consoled his family members at his house in Nalgonda. CLP leader Jana Reddy, party council floor leader Shabbir Ali, former PCC chief Hanumanth Rao, CLP deputy leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, DCC president Budida Bikshamaiah Goud and former ZP chairman Kasireddy Narayan Reddy accompanied him.

Later speaking to the media, Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jana Reddy revealed that both the chairperson Lakshmi and her husband Srinivas had been receiving threatening calls. After knowing this, MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy requested local DSP Sudhakar to provide security to the couple. He also informed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao about this, they added.

Ruling party leaders were trying to show their upper hand by threatening Congress leaders, who were strong in their areas. The arrest of culprits and impartial enquiry by CBI in the case can reveal the actual conspirators behind the killing, the leaders pointed out.

Senior leader V Hanumanth Rao and party floor leader in council Shabbir Ali alleged that the TRS was planning to come to power again in the State through violence. Criticizing Nalgonda DSP Sudhakar as working for the ruling party, they demanded he must be transferred from Nalgonda to conduct fair investigation.

The top brass leaders urged the congress cadre not to lose confidence at any cost. The people in the State were vexed with the government’s anti-public policies and were ready to teach a lesson to the TRS in next elections, they observed. Former Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah, party leaders P Promod Kumar, Rapolu Jaya Prakash, Punna Kailash Neta and others were also present on the occasion.
