Agitating municipal workers stage novel protest
As part of the strike call given by the State Municipal Workers Association, the municipal workers on Friday came together to have community lunch on the street in front of the District Collectorate here. The workers are agitating for hike in salaries. Earlier the workers staged a sit-in in front of the Collectorate.

Speaking on the occasion, the Municipal Workers JAC leaders alleged that Municipal Minister K T Rama Rao had reneged on his promise to enhance the salaries of the workers. They demanded that the government implement the GO No.14 immediately and enhance the salaries of the Municipal workers.
They warned the government that the agitation would be intensified if the demand of the workers were not met. The Municipal JAC leaders Tumma Vishnu Vardhan (CITU), G Ramaiah (IFTU), Md.Pasha (INTUC), Manda Venkateshwarlu (AITUC), J Srinu, T Ramulu, Veeraiah, Narayana, N Krishna, M Jayaraj, Gopal Rao and Ashok were present along with Municipal workers.
