​Khammam: District Forest Officer Sunil S Hiramat here on Tuesday stressed the need for protecting envirnoment. Attending as a chief guest in the programme organised on the occasion of World Environment Day here at the Police Commissionerate office, the DFO planted the saplings on the premises of Sri Krishna Memorial High School. Speaking on the occasion, Hiramat said World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5 to create awareness about the environment and to protect it.

He said that the theme of the World Environment Day this year is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.’ The wonderful gift which we can give to future generations is the world full of greenery. He said the Haritha Haram programme undertaken by the State government is meant for increasing green cover.

Forest Development Officers Prakash Rao and Manjula, Forest Range Officer G Prasad Rao, Armed Reserve Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkateshwarlu and School principal Sheshagiri Rao were present at the programme.
