The deceased, three-and-half-year-old boy, identified as Shaikh Rahman Ali was crossing the road to reach Success School at Saidabad main road with his mother Naushia Begum on June 20 when B Srimathi hit the child with her SUV.

It is learned that Srimathi is a lecturer at the Sidharath Junior college for women at Dilsukhnagar and was driving the vehicle at a high speed.

The boy and his mother got down from the auto on Saidabad main road, opposite the educational institute and were crossing the road when the vehicle hit them from behind. The toddler sustained serious injuries and succumbed to death at a corporate hospital.

A case has been registered against Srimathi under Section 304(A) (Causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police have also secured the CCTV footages from the area. Srimathi who was also admitted in the hospital was arrested by the police after getting discharged. She was

later produced before the court where the lecturer was granted bail.
