Hyderabad: In the wake of the Navratri and state festival Bathukamma, the Telangana government readied over 95 lakh handloom sarees for distribution on October 12 to present to women.
On Thursday, the sarees are set for display in the presence of Industries and Commerce minister KT Rama Rao. "Around 50 lakh sarees have been sent to the districts till now and the remaining will sent by October 10," the minister said adding that the sarees are being produced in the Sircilla Powerloom Cluster at a cost of Rs 280 crore.
"Each saree is costed of Rs 290 which will be given to women aged above 18 years," KTR said.
