It is heartening to see the Indian team winning the first test in the ongoing test series in Australia. This win has been alluring for the past ten years. This match became the stage for several records. Indian team became the first Asian team to win the tests against South Africa, England, and Australia in the same calendar year.
I believe that every Indian cricket fan is elated to see the 21-year-old Rishabh Pant creating a world record of most number of dismissals by an Indian wicketkeeper in tests and also joining the elite players like England's Jack Russel and South Africa’s AB de Villiers. His scintillating performance indicates that he is going to be the promising wicketkeeper for the Indian team in future. Even though the batsmen could not perform well in the first innings, the brilliant game by Pujara lifted the score.
The batsmen played relatively better in the second innings. The performance of the bowlers in both the innings was wonderful. This match is one of the best examples to show how the teamwork pays off. This win should boost the confidence of the team for next matches. Let us hope that the Indian team will win this ongoing series and create many more records.
