Road Mishap In Karnataka Caused 22 Deaths. According to local police, in an accident that took place on a highway near Belgaum on Saturday, at least 22 people were killed when a mini-truck in which they were travelling tumbled.

Belgaum: According to local police, in an accident that took place on a highway near Belgaum on Saturday, at least 22 people were killed when a mini-truck in which they were travelling tumbled.
Belgaum Superintendent of Police Chandra Gupta said, “The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when the mini-truck overturned after its driver lost control and hit a roadside kerb at a junction on the state highway". Of the 22 people who were killed in this accident, 9 were found to be women while 5 were children.
There were a total of 35 people travelling by this min truck. 12 people injured in this accident and were rushed to a nearby hospital by the fastest means, sources added. It is learnt that all the victims were on the way to Saundatti, a border town in the northwest region from Surpur in Yadgir district in northeast of the state, about 540 km from Bangalore.
According to sources, this accident took place due to rash and negligent driving of the driver. Police registered a case against the driver and the vehicle's owner under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Base on the information received from one of the victims, who survived with severe injuries, the police filed the case.
