Gandhinagar: Arvind Kejriwal, who has been attacking Narendra Modi of late, on Friday created a drama by suddenly demanding a meeting with the Chief Minister to discuss the issue of gas price and development in Gujarat but failed to get an appointment.

Accompanied by AAP leaders including Manish Sisodia, Kejriwal, who has been in Gujarat for the last two days "inspecting" development in the state, drove to Gandhinagar on Friday morning wanting to meet Modi. But the police stopped him some five kms away from the Chief Minister's official residence in the administrative capital and asked the AAP leader to seek an appointment with Modi.

Kejriwal said he was not a terrorist and deserved to be called by him for a meeting out of courtesy."Now I wanted to meet him, but we were stopped five kilometres away from his residence. I am not a terrorist. Being an ex-CM, I deserve a courtesy call from Modi, instead we were stopped. This is not democracy," he told reporters

Earlier in the day, the former Delhi Chief Minister said he has raised 16 questions on development claims on Gujarat and wants to discuss all the issues with Modi. Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah asked Kejriwal to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls against the Gujarat Chief Minister in the state on this issue. "If there is no development in Gujarat, he (Kejriwal) should contest against Modi from Gujarat," Shah said while participating in 'India Today Conclave' here. Meanwhile, an FIR was lodged against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct by using loud speaker at a public meeting at Gandhidham in Kutch district of Gujarat on Friday, police said.

"Kejriwal addressed a public rally today at Rishabh Circle of Gandhidham where he used loudspeaker without Election Commission's permission. This is a breach of Model Code of Conduct, so we lodged an FIR," Superintendent of Police, Dipak Meghani said. The FIR was lodged under section 188 of IPC (disobeying public servant's order), Meghani said.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also replied to the show cause notice issued by District Election Officer (DEO) on the protest outside BJP headquarters, saying it was an "instant reaction" to its chief Arvind Kejriwal's detention in Gujarat.

In its reply, AAP said the protest was not a "planned event" and maintained that it respects the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in force ahead of Lok Sabha polls scheduled to begin from next month, officials said. The protest was an instant reaction to the happenings in Gujarat and it was not any part of campaigning for party candidate, the party said.
