Mumbai: Early on Thursday, Tushar Jadhav (23), an engineering student and son of a sales tax officer, was found stabbed in the luggage compartment of a Trans-Harbour local. On the midway to hospital, he breathed his last.

Tushar, an Airoli resident, had boarded the Thane train from Panvel but was fatally assaulted near Ghansoli station by an anonymous person (s). He was stabbed at many places on his body. The police said that it was not a case of stabbing for robbing valuable items. From the spot of the incident, a blood-soaked knife, a broken chappal and a black coloured bag were traced out. Reportedly, Jadhav, who was studying at an automobile engineering college in Ratnagiri, was returning with 10 friends after appearing for his last exam.

According to sources, Jadav’s friends got down at Panvel while Jadhav boarded the luggage compartment at the Thane-end, adjoining the ladies coach, of the first Panvel-Thane local at 4.35am. Police said as the train was passing Ghansoli, the constable in the adjoining coach heard screams for help. But when he got down at Rabale, the next station, he found an injured Jadhav alone in the compartment. Police said as the train started, he boarded the coach and alerted the helpline which arranged for the victim to be taken to a hospital in Thane. However the youth died by the time he reached hospital.

According to sources, parents of the deceased T Jadhav decided to donate the eyes of their son before his last rites. His father said there was no such wish made by his son but it was a charitable act.
