Thiruvanantapuram: In a startling line of attack a reputed author and Booker’s Prize Winner Arundhati Roy has allegedly commented on none other than Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. She reportedly said that Gandhiji had shown cast feelings, while making it a mention that he does not deserve the title – ‘Father of the Nation’. She demanded for choosing another suitable person as an alternate for the title. She further demanded for the change of the names of the universities running in the name of Mahatma Gandhi.

She made these comments while addressing the students in a University Function in Kerala. To justify her comments Arundhati Roy gave the reference of a book authored by Mahatma Gandhi ‘The Ideal Bhangi’ and said that Gnadhiji instructed scavengers to use the human wastes for other purposes. She further stated that it indicates the honour Gandhi gave to the scavenger’s community. She said such discriminations only have led to the prevailing caste dominations in the societies.
