One has heard of people owning Cars, Buses and even Airplanes but owning a train is unheard of.

But two farmers Mela Ram and Madan Lal hailing from Himachal Pradesh have got the opportunity to own the Government railway train. If all goes accordingly, these two will be able to own a train.

Due to the construction for Railway Tracks in Una District, farmers have lost about Rs 35 lakhs for the lands used in the construction and if the compensation is not paid to the affected farmers by April 16th, a High Court ruled that the Delhi Shatabdi Express Train will be the farmers’.

The details of the construction of the railway track were held in 1998 in Una district where Mela Ram and Madan Lal lost lands. The losses of their land lead to seek compensation in court. In 2011, the verdict was pronounced, leading to a reduction of compensation. The judgment of the High Court challenged the farmers to proceed further. However, the imposition of a stay on the judgment of the High Court, it is likely to appeal to within three months, to deposit the amount ordered by the Department of the railway in 2013.

But on failing to deposit the money to pay compensation to farmers, Sessions Judge Mukesh Kumar Bansal published in this rare judgment ordered the Railways to pay Rs 35 lakh by April 16 or the train will be stopped.
