New Delhi: Border Security Force (BSF) Director General D K Pathak on Thursday praised the courage shown by martyred constables Subhendu Rai and Rocky and said the terrorist attack on their convoy was retaliated to in an effective manner.

"There were no specific inputs that this sort of thing was going to happen. Such incidents have not happened here for the last 20 years...This area was considered relatively safe. When we were attacked we retaliated in an effective manner," Pathak said at a press conference.

"There were 24 people on the bus, if Rocky (jawan) had not neutralised the militant, then I think most of the 24 would not have survived," he added.

The BSF paid tributes to the martyred jawans, Subhendu Rai and Rocky, at their headquarters in Jammu today. Both the martyred constables were laid to rest this morning.

Terrorists disguised in wearing army fatigue attacked a BSF convoy yesterday at Narsu nullah, killing two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and injuring 10 others.

While one terrorist was killed as BSF immediately retaliated, two managed to flee into the forests.

Three civilians, who were held hostage by one Pakistani terrorist, have been rescued by the army and the terrorist was caught alive.
