Kulkarni ink attack: Six accused Shiv Sena members released on bail

Kulkarni was attacked for refusing to back down from organizing ex-Pakistani minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri's book launch.
Among those arrested were Gajanand Patil, Dinesh Prasad, Ashok Waghmare, Prakash Husbe, Samadhan Jadhav and Venkatesh Nair.
Shiv Sena had been vehemently protesting against Kasuri's book launch saying it would retaliate if the event was not cancelled, and true to their work, the organizer was attacked on the morning of the launch.
The event, however, went without a glitch on Monday as the Shiv Sena showed no sign of interrupting the book launch.
The Shiv Sena, a partner in the ruling coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Maharashtra state government, was last week accused of using threats to force the cancellation of an appearance in Mumbai by Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali.
There are growing concerns over freedom of speech in India after the execution-style killing in August of M.M. Kalburgi, a leading secular scholar who had angered hardline Hindu groups.
Shiv Sena spokesman Sanjay Raut described the ink attack as a "non-violent protest".
