New Delhi: AAP legislator Rajesh Rishi's brother was arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting and molesting an elderly woman over a parking dispute, police said.

Rajeev Rishi was accused of assaulting the victim's husband Virender Singh and molesting her in the incident that happened on Sunday night at Dabri in west Delhi.

Police said Rajeev Rishi and his friend Satish Yadav were arrested on charges of attacking the couple over parking issues.

"Rajeev Rishi and Satish and some AAP workers got into a fight with their neighbours after the couple opposed the parking of cars in Dabri as it created a nuisance for residents," Deputy Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar told IANS.

Rajesh Rishi, the legislator from Janakpuri, denied the charges against his brother and said the police were acting under pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He said his brother never attacked anyone but it was he (brother) who was assaulted.

"What do you do when people forcefully enter your home and start abusing you? We called the police and filed a complaint first. But police did not file a FIR on our complaint but fabricated and levelled criminal charges against my brother," the legislator told IANS.

"I was not at my residence when the incident happened. Else the police would have framed fabricated charges against me as well," he said.

The Delhi Police have so far arrested at least 16 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs on various charges but have struggled to have them convicted in courts.

Officer Kumar said the elderly couple demanded that AAP supporters' cars be removed from their street.

The victim alleged that the parking trouble started in January when many people began arriving at Rishi's home to get ticket for the upcoming civic polls.

"Some drivers were found consuming liquor in the cars in the evening," Kumar quoted the victim as saying.

The couple said they went to meet Rajeev Rishi to discuss the parking problems but instead got manhandled. The entire incident was captured on mobile phones by some residents, Kumar added.

The two men were booked for wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty and criminal intimidation.

The woman was injured in the upper part of her body, the officer said.
