Hyderabad: Students of Class 12 of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), who are qualified in the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test - 2018 (TS EAMCET) but applying for verification of their Class 12 marks and revaluation, are all set to miss the first phase of counselling.

According to sources, there are about 18,500 EAMCET-qualified candidates who were not given ranks as some of them failed in their intermediate while others belong to Class 12 of CBSE Board whose results were not declared at the time of announcement of EAMCET results.

It was against this backdrop that it was decided to allocate ranks to Class 12 students of CBSE after the declaration of their results and to allow them to take part in the first phase of counselling, scheduled from May 25 to June 6.

Accordingly, the CBSE students were allowed following the Central Board declaring Class 12 results on April 26 and to take part in the counselling process from June 3 to 6, on the basis of online mark sheets downloaded.

However, some students are finding it difficult to take part in the process as they had opted for the verification of marks and revaluation of their Class 12 results.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official from the JNTU-H said that there were few students who approached the officials concerned with the issue that the schedule of verification of revaluation of their marks of Class 12 of CBSE was clashing with the first phase of counselling.

For example, as per CBSE schedule, the students are allowed to apply for verification of marks from June 1 to 7.

If the students want to obtain a photocopy of evaluated answer sheets, then they can apply online on June 15 and 16. And, the schedule for applying online for revaluation is June 21 and 22.

Following this, some of the students, who were qualified and expecting better marks in the revaluation in their Class 12, are fearing that they might lose on opportunity to attend the first of phase of counselling.

The weightage of marks given in finalisation of ranks on the basis of marks obtained in Class 12 would improve their rankings.

However, since the first phase of counselling is going to end, they are left with no other option but to participate in the second phase of counselling, which would be announced after completion of first phase of counselling, the official said.

Clarifying further, he said that it was the same case with those who took the Intermediate Advance Supplementary Examinations which were concluded recently.

Unless their results were declared prior to closing of first phase of counselling and they submit at least a copy of their downloaded marks list, it is not possible to extend the dates of first phase of counselling, as the Apex court judgment prescribes to start the classes as per the schedule.
