The agitation for Samaikyandhra undertaken by the employees of the AP Transco department has been intensified on the 26th day here on Saturday with employees deciding to besiege the house of BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu’s house in Sardar Vallabhai Patel Nagar. The police, who were alerted beforehand, beefed up the security at his residence by a team of policemen led by DSP Venkatnath Reddy. They arranged barricades to prevent the agitators from storming his residence.

Nellore: The agitation for Samaikyandhra undertaken by the employees of the AP Transco department has been intensified on the 26th day here on Saturday with employees deciding to besiege the house of BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu’s house in Sardar Vallabhai Patel Nagar. They arranged barricades to prevent the agitators from storming his residence.

Demanding that Venkaiah Naidu should immediately resign his Rajya Sabha seat and plunge into the Samaikyandhra agitation, they warned that electricity would be cut off to his residence from September 2 if he refuses to take the plunge. Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Srinivasulu, leader of the Engineers Association threatened to disrupt power supply to P Chidambaram’s Tamil Nadu, Veerappa Moily’s Karnataka and AK Antony’s Kerala from the Nellore Grid as they were trying to breakup Andhra Pradesh.

Lawyers and staff of the judicial department took part in the protest demonstration in the town on Saturday. Meanwhile, in separate incidents, the officials of the forest department blocked the roads and took part in Vanta-Vaarpu programme. Students played games and sang songs. The borders of Gudur were sealed by the farmers, employees, students and Political-Joint Action Committee. More than 3,000 girls took part in dharnas.
