While the act is condemnable on secular, democratic and moralistic grounds, I don't see anything wrong in KCR's act particularly when such contributions are made annually under the excuse of ' traditions and customs.'
If KCR is wrong now, then all the other things done by both Andhra Pradesh and Telengana governments are wrong too.
Why is so much spent on Haj Yatra to send Muslim brethren to Mecca
Did YSR not start the Jerusalem Yatra also for Christians?
Why is the Government sponsoring the Ganesh festival, Bonalu, Mahankali jatra, Ramzan and Christmas festivals?
Why spend lavishly on Godavari Pushkaralu?
What about huge public funds spent on the Brahmotsavams in Tirupati, Vemulawada, Kanakaduraga, Srisaliam, Bhadrachalam and the like?
Let us take all of this with a pinch of salt that in a democracy such social aberrations are inevitable. While some call it tradition, a few others call it vote bank politics.
When One accepts grant of Crores of rupees to sports personalities like Sania Mirza (for her achievements etc), what is wrong in donating to temples, (hall marks of community welfare) in the form of Vows etc.
We all know the huge amounts collected in Hundis of Tirumala which are both contributions of public and also institutions like government etc.
