Nizamabad: The town police on Monday organised a bike rally as part of a public awareness campaign to educate bike riders on safety measures of wearing a helmet, here at the polytechnic grounds.

The City Police Commissioner Kartikeya flagged off the rally.Addressing the participants, the Commissioner said that there were less road accidents in 2016 as compared to the last two years. Still, the police was keen to educate the riders on the need for preventing mishaps resulting in loss of lives.

Kartikeya expressed contentment that the accidents rate in Nizamabad was less when compared to other districts. He stated that the State government was keen to promote helmets for every bike-rider to ensure his/her safety during a road accident.

The commissioner expressed anguish over the impact a road accident death will have on family members if one fails to wear head protective gear. He told The Hans India that to prevent such tragic deaths it was necessary for bike-riders to wear helmets.
