pri Nizamabad: A prisoner Akbar (40) escaped from Government Hospital attached to the Nizamabad Medical College (NMC) here on Friday.A As many as 13 cases were registered against Akbar in Two Town and Three Town police stations. He is a notorious thief and indulged in several theft cases by breaking locks. The Government Hospital was shifted to the NMC complex recently and there is no separate ward for prisoners in the new building. As Akbar was suffering from epileptic fits, he was shifted from prison to hospital a few days ago. In the wee hours of Friday, he wanted to go to toilet. As water was not available in the toilet of the new hospital, he went out and escaped. One Head Constable and four constables are placed at the ward to prevent the escape of prisoners. Despite their presence, Akbar was able to escape. Jail Superintendent Varaprasad inspected the hospital and made inquiries about the prisoner's escape. Prisoners admitted to the hospital are chained to their legs to prevent their escape. Another prisoner Purushotham and others wanted the jail authorities to allocate a separate ward for prisoners in the hospital. Head Constable Mallesh and other personnel also stressed the need for separate ward for prisoners in the new hospital.A Four prisoners escaped from the hospital in 2009 and one in 2011.
