Telugu mega star and Union Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi is these days on a new high, following his successful campaign in the just-concluded Karnataka Assembly elections. Chiranjeevi was fielded for campaign in the Telugu-speaking regions of the state and the success rate was very high.
Chiranjeevi camp is unable to hide its glee that compared to the success rate of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who too campaigned in Bangalore and elsewhere, Chiranjeevi's success rate was higher. Crowds turned up in huge numbers to catch a glimpse of the mega star everywhere he had gone to campaign. Buoyed by the poll results Chiranjeevi said, "In the last five years, the Congress workers have relentlessly fought against the corrupt and anti-people's government led by the BJP in the state, which has yielded the overwhelming majority for the Congress." Hailing the landslide victory of the congress party in Karnataka Assembly election, Chiranjeevi thanked the people of Karnataka for voting against corrupt government headed by the BJP. Chiranjeevi attributed the party's victory to the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, the inclination of young voters towards Rahul Gandhi and development work undertaken by the UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. With the results indicating a resounding victory for the Congress in Karnataka, Chiranjeevi said that Congress workers should take the spirit of this victory and work enthusiastically in the upcoming General Election due in 2014.
