Bangalore: Despite a great fight back by bowlers that forced the match into Super Over, Delhi Daredevils failed to secure their maiden win as RCB clinch thriller at MA Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday. Despite getting hit for a six on the first delivery of the final over, Irfan Pathan bowled intelligently and didn't allow RCB to cross DD total of 152, forcing a Super Over finish. After a solid 103-run stand for the third wicket that rescued Bangalore from poor start, the hosts lost quick wickets of AB de Villiers and Andrew McDonald that brought Delhi back in the game. While de Villiers got run out, Donald was caught and bowled by Shahbaz Nadeem. Both dismissal came after Virat Kohli reached his fifty in 32 balls to take Bangalore close to the victory target of 153, set by Delhi Daredevils in the IPL clash on Tuesday. Kohli along with AB de Villiers steadied Bangalore after losing openers early to guide the side past-100 in 12 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore lost Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul, after some big hits, in quick succession after Delhi posted 152/5. While Ashish Nehra gave Delhi first breakthrough by ending Rahul's (12) challenge, Morne Morkel got rid of danger man Gayle (13). Delhi failed to build any substantial partnership, the highest being the opening stand of 43 off 34 balls between Virender Sehwag (25 off 23 balls with four boundaries) and David Warner (15 off 13 4x3) at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Kedar Jadhav top-scored with a 16-ball unbeaten 29 which he made with the help of two fours and a six while Sehwag, captain Mahela Jayawardene and Irfan Pathan were the other notable contributors. Bangalore bowlers put up a disciplined effort to deny the visiting side easy runs. Pacer Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets for 24 runs. Two other bowlers, Vinay Kumar and Andrew McDonald, took a wicket each. Delhi were to blame themselves as most of them were out to loose shots as they lost four wickets for 91 in 14.1 overs. Losing wickets at regular interval pegged Bangalore back. Openers Sehwag and Warner put on 43 runs for the first wicket before falling in quick succession, leaving Manpreet Juneja and Jayawardane in the middle to bring the innings on to the track. Sehwag hit the kind of rhythm he is known for in fourth over of the match dispatching Unadkat for three boundaries in a row. If Sehwag was continuing with his blitzkreig, his opening partner Warner was also looking to smash the balls coming his way.
