If the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has its way, then the format may very soon have a tenth team.
An indication to this effect was given by the League Chairman, Rajiv Shukla here. He said that discussions on inducting another team in the cash-rich T20 league would be held soon after the ongoing sixth edition of the tournament concludes on May 26.
"The issue of tenth team in the IPL would be discussed after the end of the current edition," he said adding that there would, however, be no change in its current format, which permits only a maximum of four foreign players to play in any team.
He said that BCCI had given Rs 50 crore to the Union Sports Ministry for promotion of other disciplines.
