SFR Snehit from Global Table Tennis Academy (GTTA) created a flutter when he held on to his nerves in a sensational decider to show the doors on top ranked P Vighney Reddy in the men singles semifinals of the 2nd Telangana State ranking table tennis tournament at Mahaveer Institute of Science and Technology in Bandalguda late Friday night.
Snehit, perhaps faltered in Saturday’s title round but what he did was enough to bolster his morale as also the status of GTTA, which had other winners in sub-junior and youth boys outings.
Snehit beat teammate VS Hari Krishna 11-8,13-11,11-9,6-11,9-11,11-7 to annex the boys junior title. GTTA’s B Varun Shanker won the sub-junior title while Hari Krishna took the youth title.
In the women final, Nikhat Banu of IT defeated Monica M of Gujarathi Seva Mandal 11-5, 11-5,11-4,7-11,11-5 to reassert her supremacy.
