Hyderabad: There seems to be an overnight change in the mindset of the administrators at Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).It has taken some startling decisions that will get going this season, which began here on Wednesday with the commencement of the super league championship.

In accordance with the new initiatives, they are to tap talent on a new platform and also bar all those who are presumed past their prime for the senior league stature. These were announced by HCA Secretary T Sesh Narayan at a press conference here.

It is a good, albeit belated, move considering that HCA proposes to introduce leagues for school and college-going students. Apparently, this will be away from the Under-14 and other age-group championships that already exist.Meanwhile, those above 40 years of age will not be eligible for three-day leagues although institutional teams will be exempted considering that many former Ranji players were recruited in the sports quota.
