Hyderabad: Upset over the insistence of the Telangana government that the L&T change the alignment of the project in two congested zones and at locations passing close to the heritage sites, the company is understood to be contemplating to write to the Government that it will not be possible to do so. And if the government still insists it will be left with no option but to abandon the controversial stretch.
Hyderabad: L&T May Abandon Sultan Bazar Stretch
According to sources, L&T feels that the works on the project are already at an advanced stage and pillars have been erected at many places. Asking them to change the design and alignment at this stage was not proper. If the L&T decides to abandon the project it would end the corridor II from Jubilee Bus Station to Falkunama at some place near Naryanaguda.

It may be recalled that on June 13, the Telangana government had suggested that the elevated Metro rail project should take the project underground while passing through the busy corridors from State Assembly, Mojamzahi market, Kothi and Sultan Bazar areas. Rao on the floor of the State Legislative Assembly made it clear that his Government would not allow heritage structures to be dismantled or overshadowed by Metro rail structures. The traders of Sultan Bazar had been fighting to divert this stretch from the busy shopping area which would have rendered thousands of traders jobless. L&T’s decision to abandon the stretch would come as a blessing in disguise for these traders.
