Karimnagar: Had the Centre conceded the demand for Telangana statehood the problem over the Polavaram project would not have arisen, observed Union Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Saturday.

The minister criticized Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for fixing 1956 as the cut-off date for ascertaining nativity for the purpose of securing fee reimbursement . There was a need to assess where these villages were located prior to 1956, he asserted.
Raju said the government would agree to set up the maintenance referral overall organisation if any State came forward to establish it, adding the country’s planes were now being abroad for this purpose. The organisation would provide jobs for the many mechanical engineers available in the country.
He suggested that both the Centre and the State should strive to ensure in four years that the country will be free of poverty and emerge as no.1 in the world from health point of view. Nizamabad MP Kavita was present.
