Khammam: Officer on special duty (administration) YV Ramana Kumar was selected for prestigious ‘Indian Police Medal’ award.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would present the award to Ramana Kumar on August 15 at Golconda Fort in Hyderabad.The district SP AV Ranganath congratulated Ramana Kumar for being selected for ‘Indian Police Medal’ award.

The district police association president Srinivas and its members said it was a great honour for district police because of Ramana Kumar.

Srinivas said that Ramana Kumar was chosen for the award for recognizing his efforts and services to the police department. Ramana Kumar joined police department as sub-inspector in 1981. He worked in various capacities in different districts. He won the appreciation of higher police officials by seizing Rs 3000 crore worth of essential commodities which were stocked illegally when he was working in vigilance cell of the Civil Supplies Department. Ramana Kumar won ‘Seva Medal’ in 1997, ‘Uttama Seva Medal’ in 2005 and ‘Mahonnatha Seva Medal’ in 2012.
