GHMC for ring road around Cantonment
The GHMC is ready to build alternative roads in cantonment area if the Army allots land for this purpose. These will be in the form of a ring road bordering the cantonment area. It is proposing 100-ft road on the north and the south borders, while a 60-feet road on the east and the west sides.

It will present its case before the HC, which sought explanation from the civic body hearing a case between the Army and residential welfare associations on traffic restrictions. However, GHMC may seek two years time for construction of alternative roads. It will urge the Court to allow traffic on the existing routes till then. Traffic could come to a standstill if the affected vehicle goers are diverted on other routes without effective measures, it will contend.
